All American Girls Professional Baseball League - Luncheon with the Legends
Milwaukee, WI - The All American Girls Professional Baseball League, "Power of the Human Spirit Luncheon" honored local and national women. The 1992 film A League of Their Own, although fictionalized, covered the founding and play of this league.
Nikki Rashan: Women in Sports Symposium
On September 17, 2009, Images of Us Sports held the Women in Sports Symposium at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. The theme of the symposium, It Takes a Team: Exploding the Myths in Women Sports, explored and addressed issues facing girls and women in sports, including homophobia and discrimination. The symposium successfully created an open dialogue between attendees of all ages and its panel of women leaders in sports business and education.
Girls Basketball Combine Camp a Success
A Big thank you goes out to the Helen Bader Foundation and the African American Women's Fund Project for their support. Area girls participate in the Sky Cares Foundation Learn to Soar leadership workshop
Several IOU Sports girls along with over 100 Chicago area girls, participated in the Sky Cares Foundation’s “Learn to Soar” program, one of three workshops for girls 10-16 that focus on teambuilding, conflict resolution, health and body image, leadership and goal-setting.
