Mystics' owner embraces challenge of selling game

MIDDLEBURG, Va. -- Northern Virginia's "horse country" is located about 40 minutes outside Washington, D.C. The towns, located on or off U.S. 50, are all picture-perfect postcard scenes of antique shops, quaint eateries, boutiques and homes dating back to the 1800s.
WNBA draft comes to Boston
February 1, 2006 The WNBA will announce today that its predraft camp and draft this year will be held in Boston, to coincide with the NCAA women's Final Four. The predraft camp is expected to be Monday, April 3, at Emmanuel College, with the draft two days later at the Convention Center. The Final Four -- which marks the 25th anniversary of the women's college tournament -- will be April 2 and 4 at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Byears back in WNBA, this time with Washington

Latasha Byears is returning to the WNBA after a three-year hiatus.
The 5-11 Byears, who helped the Los Angeles Sparks win back-to-back WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002 with her physical inside play, was added Tuesday to the Washington Mystics' 2006 training-camp roster.
Overseas offseasons supplement WNBA paychecks
Associated Press Taj McWilliams-Franklin has played in paradise on an island off Spain. She's also played in the pits, shivering in a cold Greek gym while sweating out her next paycheck. In her 13 years as a professional, McWilliams-Franklin has played in eight different countries. She wraps up a season in South Korea this month before reporting to the WNBA's Connecticut Sun in six weeks for training camp.
